1. Do they speak English in Palma de Mallorca?

Although the national language at de Mallorca is Spanish, most of the island’s inhabitants speak and understand English. It won’t hurt, however, if you brought a Spanish-English / English-Spanish dictionary along with you, or familiarize yourself with oft-used sentences and phrases.

2. What currency is accepted in Palma de Mallorca?

Palma de Mallorca, being a part of Spain, generally uses the official currency of the European Union, the Euro or the Eurozone. Foreign currency particularly the US Dollar or the UK Pound may be accepted in larger retail establishments, but to avoid any problems, it would be best to have your foreign currency exchanged upon your arrival at Palma.

3. Are credit cards / travellers cheques accepted in Palma de Mallorca?

Normally, business enterprises such as hotels and restaurants in Palma de Mallorca accept major credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, American Express) and traveller’s cheques. However, to be sure, it is always best to ask the establishment in advance.

4. What are the major forms of transportation in Palma?
Tourists can explore the island by way taking the public transport. Trains and buses abound in the city. If you do not want to join the throng of commuters, you may also opt to take taxi cabs or rent a private car for your personal use.

5. How do I travel from the airport to the hotel?

You have the option of either taking a taxi cab or ride in one of the buses that shuttle tourists to and from the airport to the city centre. Buses leave every 15 minutes and the travel time from the airport to the city centre lasts about 10 minutes. From the city centre, you can take a taxi or perhaps another bus or a train to get to your hotel. Prior to leaving for Palma, you can ask your hotel if they provide shuttle service and how you can avail of this.
